HP has always worked for me- I am a software developer transitioning off one of HP's chief competitors, who, after 4 systems- all "high-end" have been remarkable disappointments. I am saying this as background for my evaluation. The HP as delivered has been "right-on-the-money" and, for my application of it- works well. I will update this evaluation in a few months to report on hardware reliability. Many thanks to the sellers and to Amazon's fulfillment!I bought an HP because my last HP lasted 12 years; an amazing amount of time for a laptop. This one failed in multiple ways (all at once), six months later. An I.T. person I spoke to says it's a system failure, a hardware/hard drive problem. It may be related to the fact that this laptop has two hard drives, C: a solid state disc, and D: a standard hard drive. What went wrong:1. I set the screen backdrop & it’s gone the next time I turn on the computer.2. When I click on the Windows icon to shut down, I cannot click in to it.3. The bar to type in next to the Windows icon: I cannot type into it.4. It will not keep Firefox as my internet browser. If I add bookmarks to it, it will not save them. The Firefox icon disappears from the bottom taskbar.5. MP3 files usually will not open when clicked.6. If I try to open an MP3 file with any audio program (WAVE, Audacity, Nero) it says File Not Found.7. Word documents will not save what’s written on them and/or will not open.8. The on the phone with HP customer service, the person told me to click the ESC key until the Start Up Screen came up. It did not. Now I have a blue box that says: There is an issue with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) data. Press [Y] – Reset whole TPM Press [N] – Boot with current TPM data. She told me to do neither. Both on the phone and later on an online chat with HP, they told me it was a software problem and I would have to pay HP to fix it.I told both of them that six software programs did not all go bad at the exact same time. This is a hardware/hard drive problem. Can I mail this to be repaired? They said NO, pay us more money.I will not. I will buy a Dell instead. No instructions or booklets came with the laptop. I'm glad I have enough knowledge to get this up and running. I like that I got this quickly. This is perfect for my teen for school work and leisure. Bigger than expected with lots of storage space. This computer is fast, the screen is big and doesn’t need fancy touch screen or fingerprint scanner to be awesome. If you need a solid computer that’s not expensive asf I would recommend this one
